The story picks up a year after Olivia (Rhiannon Fish) and Prince Alexander (Mitchell Bourke) first met on vacation. Their relationship has grown, but they still struggle to find time together due to Alexander’s royal duties. This Christmas, they travel to Alexander’s home country of Torovia. It’s the first time Olivia’s parents (Madeline and Henry) will meet his family, including his mother, Queen Patricia.
Olivia soon learns about a grand state dinner and her expected role in it. This takes away time from family traditions with her parents. Meanwhile, Alexander is planning to propose. With all the drama, will they still have a merry Christmas?

One of the best parts of the movie was seeing how Olivia and Alexander’s relationship evolved. Olivia’s fears about their future were realistic and addressed, though I wish they had been explored more deeply. The final quarter of the movie is where it truly shines. As the story comes to a close, we see growth in characters and relationships, and these moments are truly emotional. They helped make up for some of the movie’s earlier shortcomings.
The Christmas atmosphere was spot on, with the decorations and snow helping set the perfect holiday tone. Watching it before Thanksgiving really got me into the Christmas spirit.
Some parts of the movie felt forced, particularly Olivia’s parents. It was hard to believe they would be so focused on sticking to their own traditions while visiting another country. This subplot felt unnecessary and distracted from the main romance. Additionally, the low budget is visible in the writing and some of the acting. While the leads were great, other parts of the movie felt cheesy, which might turn off some viewers.
In conclusion, A Christmas Castle Proposal is a solid sequel. It continues Olivia and Alexander’s story with some heartwarming moments, particularly in the final act. However, it relies on some predictable tropes and has a few weaker elements. If you enjoyed the first movie, you’ll likely appreciate this one. If not, it’s best to watch the first film to better understand the characters and their relationships.
